Why You Should Exfoliate Your Skin

November 30, 2019

The largest organ in the body is our skin, It helps to protect the body against microbes and deserves to be well taken care of. One of the simplest ways you can care for your skin is to exfoliate your skin

What is Exfoliation?

Exfoliation is the process of removing  dead skin cells from the skin's outer layer. This process can be done chemically or  mechanically.

Chemical exfoliation is the the process of removing dead skin cells using chemical peels while mechanical exfoliation  makes use of granules to remove dead skin cells.

Importance of Exfoliating Your Skin

1. Smooth and Softer Skin

Exfoliating your skin regularly  removes dry and cracked skin layer leaving you with a smoother and softer skin.

2. Might Help Reduce Acne

Most acne are caused by dirts on the skin and these dirts can be removed by exfoliating your skin.

3. Allows Products To Work

If you've tried different expensive products with no positive result then it's possible you're applying the products on dead skin cells which will not allow the products to penetrate into your skin. Exfoliating your skin allows your products to work well on your skin

How Often Should You Exfoliate Your Skin?

Well I feel this is dependent on your skin type. If you have a very sensitive skin you can exfoliate your skin 2 times in a week which  includes your face and body. And if you have normal skin you can exfoliate your skin 2-3 times a week.

Homemade Body Scrubs

You can buy chemical peels or body scrubs online or you can as well make yours at home.
Here's a simple recipe I use to remove dead skin cells

Rice powder (granules)
Coconut oil

Mix the three ingredients together and gently scrub your face and body. Rinse off with regular tap water.

Do you exfoliate your skin?  What's your recipe?  Or do you buy your body scrub?
